ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd.’ contributions against Covid
- Donated PKR 16.2 million the ‘Prime Minister Covid Relief Fund’ (PMCRF) in the fight against the pandemic.
- Commenced awareness campaigns at the beginning of the pandemic and distributed 500,000 brochures amongst clients, staff which helped in dispelling misinformation about the coronavirus while promoting precautionary measures such as wearing a face mask, washing hands for 20 seconds, maintaining social distancing and avoiding public gatherings.
- Donated 50 patient stretchers, including 100 Master Molty Foam pads with covers, 1000 scrub Suits and 15000 shoe covers to ‘Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre’ (JPMC).
- Donated 20 Multi-parameter monitors, 150 boxes of latex gloves and 500 KN-95 face masks to ‘Dr. Ruth K. M Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi’.
- Donated 5000 disposable gowns, 700 scrub suits, and 6600 disposable face masks to ‘The Indus Hospital’.

The Indus Hospital (TIH) in Karachi is a trust dedicated to providing free of cost, quality healthcare services to poor, underprivileged communities across Pakistan. The hospital has been at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus and continued service for Covid patients. ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. has provided 1000 scrub suits, 500 KN-95 face masks, 6600 disposable face masks and 1000 litres of gel hand sanitiser. Doctors, nurses, paramedics, and community health workers used the donated personal protective equipment while on duty during these challenging times, enabling them to provide services more efficiently. The hospital management was pleased and wished to continue helping the backward areas of Pakistan.

The Nishtar hospital in Multan provides health facilities free of cost for the people of South Punjab and adjacent areas of KPK and Baluchistan. It has 1700 beds for patients. The hospital's medical superintendent heard about ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. and its responsibility activities related to Covid. They requested support in an ECG machine, suction machine and infrared thermometers for Covid patients. On average, 50 to 70 patients per day check-in at the hospital that could not receive proper care due to a shortage of medical equipment. After conducting a needs assessment, ASA Pakistan provided 10 ECG machines, 10 suction machines and 10 infrared thermometers, benefitting Covid patients. The hospital Director, Deputy Director and staff attended the donation program and hospital officials spoke of appreciation for the health care equipment.

Mr. Nand Kumar has a hearing impairment. He has the ability to do sewing work, but did not have the machine to do the work. Despite having the talent to conduct a business, he was not able to lead a prosperous life, because he was working at garment shop for a low wage (450 rupees). He has two school-age children, but could not afford their education. He heard about the social activities of ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. and enquired about a sewing machine. ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. extended the support and provided a jack-4 sewing machine. He is now running his own business and earning over one thousand rupees a day. His children have started going to school. Now he is living a happy life with his family. His wife also started sewing work to support the family. Nand and his family expressed their gratitude for ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. continued support for persons with disabilities.

The Citizen Foundation (‘TCF’) is a non-profit organization aiming to promote mass scale, quality education for disadvantaged children. It encourages intellectual, moral and spiritual growth. TCF schools, being in less privileged areas, were facing power shortages which severely hampers education provision to an already marginalized community. As contributing to the education of less privileged students is important to ASA Microfinance Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. responsibility mission, they installed a solar panel system generating 12 KVA at two primary schools. The problem of electricity has been resolved with the installation of the solar panel system. The children, parents, teachers, staff, and the people of the village expressed their happiness and prayed for more success and continued support to the underprivileged communities of Pakistan.
